Years ago, it was normal for people to have single glazed windows which contain one sheet of glass, in time the widows would need replacing. When this happens, we tend to replace them with double glazing.
Double glazed windows include sealed units which are made from two panes of glass, they have a gap in between them that includes good insulation against the cold in winter and also helps to keep the heat inside the house when its needed most.
Double glazing works through creating an insulating layer between the outside and inside of your home. At Active Windows the double-glazed windows we provide are filled with Argon glass which is extremely good at reducing the transfer of heat.

Energy efficient glazing is the term used when it comes to describing glazing which includes two or more glass panes within a sealed unit. Energy efficient windows and doors include a framing material which could be; timber, aluminium, PVC-U or composite, where one or more glass sealed units are fitted according to the style of the window or door.
Energy efficient glazing is rated in line with its ability to reduce the amount of heat that can pass through the window and the capacity for sunlight to travel through the glass unit, as well as the capacity for air to move through the unit. The highest rated glazing according to efficiency tends to be made with Low-Emissivity Glass which has a special coating on the inner surface letting light travel through whilst reflecting heat back into the room.
As glass is a rigid, inelastic material, this means that it’s extremely good at conducting sound. If untreated, or if it’s a single pane, it will do little to prevent noise from entering your home. This is why standard single and standard double glazing isn’t recommended should you be suffering from the effects of noise pollution.
Soundproof glazing also works by deflecting and dissipating the soundwave. There’re three main areas that should be considered when it comes to providing superior noise reduction values in noise reduction glass:
